What are APO’s thematic prorities?
APO’s work is guided by five thematic priorities identified in the Medium-Term Strategy 2024–2030. These priorities are based on regional consultation with ministries of health and development partners and reflect common regional health systems challenges across the Asia Pacific.
They provide a framework for collaborative research, policy dialogue and cross-country learning. Through thematic priorities, APO brings together policymakers and health policy and systems researchers with relevant expertise to contribute to evidence- informed policymaking across diverse country contexts in the region.
Primary health care (PHC) and universal health coverage (UHC)
Models of sustainable financing, commissioning, delivering, and harmonizing people-centered services including PHC to achieve UHC.
Digital health
Use of digital health technologies and data to enhance health system outcomes.
Human resources for health (HRH)
Approaches to achieve and maintain fit-for-purpose health workforce now and into the future.
Health equity
Tackling inequities in health due to gender and social inequities, being uncounted or unreached.
Health system resilience to climate change and pandemics
Health system resilience and adaptability to external and evolving pressures such as climate change and pandemics.
